The conceptual techniques I will need to achieve a cohesive portfolio that keeps up Coca-Cola's style include the following:
Idealistic life style
Romantic
Fun
Happiness
The basis of my concept for my Coca-Cola advertising campaign:
Red.
Red is Coca-Cola as soon as we envision Coca-Cola we see the colour red. One of the themes I will focus my portfolio on will be Red, whether that be represented by photographing red lipstick, red nails, red dress, red chairs etc. Developing that idea further I have decided to create a character, her name will be 'The Girl in the Red Dress' (inspired by The Matrix).
My photographs in the Coca-cola portfolio will include this character in a subtle way, for example I will not be just photographing a girl wearing a red dress but rather photograph a glass with coke inside and have a red lipstick stain on the glass, as to give the illusion that The Girl in the Red Dress was just there.
Another idea to bring my character to life is to photograph a chrome (assignment shot list) bottle opener (up until about the 1980's you had to use a bottle opener to open a coke) in the studio.
I would set the chrome bottle opener on a white table and have a folded napkin close to it with a red lipstick kiss on the napkin. The scene for this image would be enjoying a coke at a party with The Girl in the Red Dress.
